New Mexico Public Television Day

From Glen Cerny – Director of Broadcasting

KRWG cited by NM Legislature in Proclamation.

With all the rancor in Washington about CPB funding, Tuesday was a very special day for us in Santa Fe.  The House and the Senate read proclamations declaring Tuesday, March First and New Mexico Public Television Day.  The proclamation would have been honor enough, but what happened next was both humbling and a bit embarrassing for us.

Following the readings by Rep. Rick Miera and Senator Eric Griego others were able to make comments.  The out pouring of support from our local officials was simply stunning!

In the House, Joseph Cervantes led things off and was quickly followed by Andy Nunez and Antonio Lujan.  Kind comments were also received from Dona Irwin, Rick Little and Terry McMillan.

Next came the Senate announcements.  Senator Mary Kay Papen, Mary Jane Garcia, Stephen Fischmann and William Burt heaped praise on what we do.

KRWG became the most talked about station in the ceremony!

I am grateful for their comments and for Polly Anderson and the UNM crew for helping make this all happen.  Vicente Vargas from the NMSU Legislative Team worked hard to give me time to make our case with some very busy people.

Why do we do this every day?  Because of people like you and them!

If you get a chance, please take a moment to thank these great individuals that are truly doing more than their fair share to make our communities a better place to live and work.
